My name is Emma, I am a lover of all things rabbit and have owned rabbits for most of my life, I studied Animal Care in college which provided me with some helpful experience which I have been able to put to good use whilst caring for my own rabbits.

My first rabbits were a neutered and bonded pair of Agouti Dutch rabbits whom I absolutely adored, they lived a long happy life and first taught me the great responsibility involved in owning a rabbit.

Over the years I have had some wonderful rabbits with their own unique personalities and complex needs.

Owning rabbits has brought with it many challenges, there has definitely been some learning curves along the way. There is always something new to learn, and only in the past five years or so rabbit knowledge has come along in leaps and bounds. It has been my goal to keep up to date with things such as correct nutrition and enrichment needs.

I have dealt with numerous health issues and emergencies, such as external and internal parasites, GI stasis, abscesses, broken nails, pasturella infection, and more recently an instance of choking, I plan on writing an article about my experience with this emergency situation soon. Although there are minor issues I have treated myself such as a broken nail, I have always understood the importance of taking my rabbits to the vets when needed. 

I first became interested in Mini Rex after seeing photos of them on Instagram. I was already looking for another rabbit at that point so after doing lots of research on the breed, I bought my first Mini Rex rabbit January 2019 and instantly fell in love. Darci is now aptly the face of Cuddly Kiwis' Hop and Shop.

I currently have four adult Mini Rex rabbits, they each have amazing personalities and taking care of them brings me a lot of joy. 

For a long time I have wanted to start my own business selling rabbit treats and accessories, and over the past couple of years the plans have been set in motion and I have finally been able to open up my online shop! It is definitely still a work in progress as stock is limited and I am still learning along the way, but it is my goal to bring rabbit; and eventually other pet owners the best quality goods for their pets. I have always taken an interest in correct rabbit nutrition and their health needs so I hope my shop will reflect this with thoroughly researched safe products.

I have created this website in the hopes it will be used to find helpful advice for your you and your rabbit, I plan on adding more information as time goes on.
